DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a member of our Geotechnical group, your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Leading geotechnical engineering design and ensuring adherence to the project schedule and budget;
- Overseeing the work of engineering interns and technologists, and providing guidance and mentoring to more junior staff;
- Preparing designs and recommendations and writing or reviewing geotechnical and soil investigation reports, specifications, and other deliverables related to a variety of low, medium, and complex geotechnical projects including low and high-rise buildings as well as commercial and industrial buildings, underground shoring and foundation design-related projects;
- Stamping such reports;
- Providing building certification of low and high-rise buildings;
- Liaising with contractors including conducting site inspection/supervision, and QA/QC inspections;
- Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies;
- Making field decisions for geotechnical issues;
- Preparing cost estimates and proposals for a variety of clients and sectors;
- Managing client relationships throughout project terms including providing a technical advisory role;
- Playing an active role in business development activities and marketing by establishing and maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
- Specifying site investigation and laboratory testing requirements;
- Managing and supervising the day to day operations of the soils and aggregates lab as well as responsibility for all lab test results;
- Performing lab testing, when required and being responsible for all lab test results;
- Attending site and office meetings;
- Managing project schedules and budgets; and
- Other duties as may be required.
- Completion of an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering or Geological Engineering;
- Completion of a Master's degree would be considered an asset;
- A minimum of 8 years' relevant experience;
- P.Eng. by Professional Engineers of Ontario required and in good standing;
- Excellent writing and communication skills;
- Commitment to health and safety regulations and desire to contribute to a safe work environment;
- Willingness to travel out of town temporarily as needed by the project; and
- Possess a valid G driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
