DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In this position, you will be an integral part of our Transportation team, responsible for providing design and drafting support for MTO and Municipal projects which include highway widening, bridge and culvert rehabilitation/replacements, interchanges, urban and rural projects for arterial, collector, and local roads and intersections. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Designing and drafting of engineering/construction drawings by creating plans, profiles and 3-D drawings in Civil 3D and InRoads formats;
  • Interpreting and implementing standards from regulatory bodies;
  • Providing support for junior staff on drafting and design;
  • Keeping up to date on the latest design tools and aids in CAD/civil 3D/InRoads in consultation with senior CAD staff;
  • Producing written reports;
  • Producing design spreadsheets using MS Excel;
  • Enhancing data charts and tables for presentations;
  • Preparing quantities utilizing InRoads and/or Civil 3D;
  • Preparing tender documents and costs estimates;
  • Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Providing sire inspections for design projects; and
  • Other duties as required or needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Completion of a College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology;
  • 3-5 years’ consulting experience completing Transportation projects for MTO or Municipal clients will be considered an asset;
  • 3-5 years’ experience working with CAD;
  • Well developed computer and analytical skills;
  • Proficiency working with CAD packages such as Auto CAD and Civil 3D;
  • InRoads experience will be considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of or experience in the field on construction project would be an asset;
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively;
  • Ability to work with engineers on multidisciplinary projects;
  • Ability to handle pressure and tight deadlines; and
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
