DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a member of the McIntosh Perry Limited team, Reporting to the head of HR, Human Resources, the Human Resources Business Partner is responsible for executing initiatives and policies that support McIntosh Perry staff, including but not limited to: recruitment and selection, policy creation, employee relations, compensation, performance management, and training and development. The person in this role is the primary HR point of contact for all employees and managers in the Calgary and Vancouver offices and acts as the liaison between Head Office and these locations. Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

Recruitment/Talent Acquisition/New Employee Integration:

  • Assisting the management team in the implementation of a workforce planning process;
  • Coordinating with external recruiters and executive search firms;
  • Full cycle recruiting including resumes screening, interviewing and reference verification and
  • Conducting and ensuring employee orientation initiatives and facilitating onboarding of new staff.

Metrics:

  • Reporting on and measuring monthly HR metrics.

Participating in HR Program/Policy Work:  

  • Training Programs;
  • Federal Contractor’s Program for Employment Equity;
  • Compensation Programs;
  • Performance Appraisals;
  • Performance Management; and
  • Core Ideologies (Core Values & Core Purpose).

Employee Relations or Performance Management:

  • Coaching managers and practice area leaders on the appraisal process;
  • Supporting and coaching employees on the appraisal process; and
  • Supporting and coaching managers and practice area leaders on performance issues.

HR Administration:

  • Providing HR input on legislative requirements including interpretation of Employment Standards;
  • Processing Benefits, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability Paperwork;
  • Coordinating Health & Safety and other Employee Training and
  • General HR administration (offer letters, termination packages, etc.).

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or other related program;
  • The preferred candidate will have 3-5 years of progressive experience in HR roles;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a remote team;
  • Ability to travel to the Vancouver offices periodically;
  • Advanced Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database skills;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail;
  • Professional HR designation (currently held or in progress) considered an asset;
  • Experience in a consulting environment considered an asset; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
