DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


As a member of the Building Structural team, you will work alongside engineering professionals and be responsible for drafting in Revit and AutoCAD as well as completing site visits to gather essential data for project design and assisting with material estimate calculations. Your duties will include but will not necessarily be limited to:


  • Operating Revit to build 3D models and 2D reinforcing plans, generating sections and details at different phases for various projects including reinforced concrete, steel, wood and masonry buildings;
  • Using AutoCAD and PDF editor software to assist engineers with developing plans, sections and details for new and renovated projects including reinforced concrete, steel, wood and masonry buildings;
  • Coordinating with the architect, other engineers, and drafting person during the working drawing process;
  • Thinking independently on the sketches prepared by the engineers and providing findings, comments and suggestions to the engineer during the drafting process;
  • Ability to work with engineers on multidisciplinary development projects;
  • Providing support for staff on CAD drawings or Revit models;
  • Interpreting and implementing standards from regulatory bodies;
  • Supporting development of standard details; 
  • Keeping up to date on the latest design tools and company standards; 
  • Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders; 
  • Visiting sites to assist with investigations as required, and;
  • Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.


QUALIFICATIONS


 Potential team members need to have, or be capable of achieving suitable qualifications, experience and skills that demonstrate a willingness for constant improvement related to:


  • Completion of a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Architectural Technologist;
  • Over 5 years of Canadian experience working in a consulting environment
  • At least 3 years demonstrated experience with Revit modelling and over 5 years experience with AutoCAD is required;
  • Knowledge of or experience in the field on construction projects would be an asset;
  • Experience in consulting engineering with focus on structural buildings would be an asset;
  • Strong collaborator with attention to detail, problem solver and creative thinker;
  • Excellent verbal & written Communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to find positive solutions to complex and sensitive issues;
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities within a complex and growing organization;
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite;
  • Must have a valid G driver’s license/access to vehicle and insurance to travel;
  • Must be able to legally work in Canada at time of application.
