As a member of our Bridges team in the GTA, you'll be working both from home and in the Oakville office in a hybrid model. You're joining a team that is currently working on 25 structural projects with the MTO and 20 Municipalities within Ontario. We work with over 15 major municipal clients in the GTA and are proud of our work on the Bayfield 21 Arch Bridge and Bay of Quinte Bridge Replacement. As an Intermediate Bridge Engineer, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Project Management Duties

  • Monitor project budgets, prepare/assist invoicing and complete project within budget and schedule;
  • Prepare and review technical proposals;
  • Assist the Department Manager and Senior Technical Lead in project management and coordination;
  • Liaise with multiple disciplines including Transportation, Municipal, Drainage, Foundation, and Environmental
  • Interfacing with client, preparing minutes/agendas, coordination of internal project team

Intermediate Engineer Duties

  • Perform preliminary and detailed design for new bridge and bridge rehabilitation, retaining walls and culverts including developing structural alternatives, calculations and analyses;
  • Prepare engineering sketches for CAD drafter and prepare structural engineering drawings;
  • Perform OSIM inspection and site visits in design and construction stages;
  • Prepare and review cost estimates, working days, specifications and tender documents
  • Prepare various design reports including Technical Memorandum, Preliminary Design Report and Structural Design Report;
  • Act as a mentor to Junior Engineers and EITs to provide the technical supports and development;



  • Bachelors degree in Civil or Structural Engineering;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.);
  • Minimum five years of progressive experience in bridge design;
  • Sound understanding of:
    • Highway Bridge Design Code (CSA-S6)
    • MTO, provincial and municipal standards and policies
    • Industry conventions, particularly with the MTO
  • Detailed Design experience with:
    • Design for single or multi-span bridges, culverts and retaining walls
    • Shallow and deep foundation design
  • Structural Inspection experience including:
    • Routine condition inspections (OSIMs)
    • Fatigue inspections accompanied by a NDT technician
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Experience assisting in the management of multi-disciplinary projects
    • Preparing or assisting in project set-up including work break down structures
    • Completing invoicing and monthly status reports
    • Identifying and controlling changes in scope
    • Monitoring and approving sub-contractors invoices
    • Interfaces with client
    • Accurate/timely/completion of agendas, minutes, correspondence
    • Prepares Proposals Technical Writeup and Fee Estimate for Senior Review
  • Knowledge of other disciplines and reciprocal effects (i.e. transportation, environmental, geotechnical); and 
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
