DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Vice President of HR, the Human Resources Specialist works closely with the HR team members and other stakeholders to achieve the strategic objectives of the organization. This person will be a resource to junior HR team members for day-to-day questions. 


This is a temporary intermediate/senior generalist position covering an 18 month maternity leave. McIntosh Perry has undergone a period of rapid growth, you will have the opportunity to improve policy, program development and processes. Your responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:


HR Generalist Activities


  • Review and report on monthly HR metrics.
  • Lead or participate in the development and implementation of new and revised HR programs, policies and procedures to achieve strategic goals and in support of operations.
  • Coordinate and administer the annual compensation review process.


Employee Relations or Performance Management


  • Coach managers and practice area leaders on the appraisal process.
  • Support and coach employees on the appraisal process.
  • Support and coach managers and practice area leaders on a range of employee related issues.


Recruitment/Talent Acquisition:


  • Work closely with team managers, AVP’s and VP’s to determine hiring needs.
  • Guide managers, APV’s and VP’s through the corporate hiring process.
  • Become knowledgeable at using the McIntosh Perry method of recruitment, selection, hiring.
  • Coordinate with external recruiters and executive search firms.
  • Conduct full cycle recruiting including resumes screening, interviewing and reference verification.
  • Review, enhance and champion an Employee Referral Program.


HR Administration:


  • HR input on legislative requirements including interpretation of Employment Standards.
  • General HR administration (offer letters, termination packages, etc.).
  • Review the work of administrative HR team members, providing input and answering routine questions. 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of a diploma or degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or other related program;
  • The preferred candidate will have 5+ years of progressive experience in HR roles;
  • Good knowledge of employment related legislation and HR Best Practices;
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Office programs including:  Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Familiarity working with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems (Experience with Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset); 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English (French communication skills an asset);
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a customer service attitude along with the ability to build relationships;
  • Strong critical thinking and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail;
  • Professional HR designation (currently held or in progress) considered an asset;
  • Experience in a consulting environment considered an asset; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
