Cormetrics has been providing corrosion testing services since 1977.  We offer full state of the art failure analysis and corrosion testing (electrochemical corrosion inhibitor and alloy evaluations, crude corrosivity assessment and corrosion coupon analysis), chemical program guidance and field investigations.  Based in Calgary, Cormetrics is a division of McIntosh Perry’s Energy Vertical which provides sustainable, engineered energy solutions for our clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

As the Corrosion Lab Manager your duties will include, but are not limited to:


Business Management and Financial Accountability

  • Providing annual budgets and tracking performance to maintain financial position of the company;
  • Reviewing marketing trends and positioning company to maximize profitability;
  • Reviewing potential areas for company growth;
  • Providing marketing and sales functions;
  • Developing relationship with industry personnel;
  • Representing company at industry events;
  • Preparing presentations and marketing requirements; and
  • Determining staffing requirements and compensation.

  

Reporting and People Management

  • Compiling activity reports for business operations;
  • Management and review of work activities for Laboratory staff; and
  • Conducting performance reviews.

 

General Responsibilities

  • Performing laboratory analysis, preparing final reports and editing draft reports;
  • Preparing proposals on new work activities for clients;
  • Assigning work priorities to the team;
  • Developing new lab procedures and apply understanding of chemical/corrosion theory;
  • Performing equipment troubleshooting, repair requirements and calibration checks;
  • Procurement of laboratory materials and approving expenses;
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment for all employees and customers;
  • Following all health and safety rules and regulations; and
  • Providing administrative duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS


  • Minimum Post-secondary education in related field;
  • Industry training on corrosion control in petroleum industry;
  • 20+ years experience in corrosion laboratory work;
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; and
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
