DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

We are seeking an Intermediate Municipal Engineer to work in or around the GTA as part of our Municipal Group in a flexible hybrid work environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our project teams. Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting senior staff with engineering design on a variety of projects;
  • Providing leadership and mentoring for engineering interns and technologists and providing guidance and mentoring to more junior staff;
  • Coordinate and preparing technical designs, specifications and reports for a variety of municipal projects; Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Collaborating on the design of engineering/construction drawings for municipal roads, active transportation facilities, sewers and watermain projects for  Municipalities within the GTA; 
  • Ensuring quality control of deliverables;
  • May perform technical lead or assist with project management on projects while monitoring budget and schedule;
  • Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Participating in the preparation of engineering services proposals; and
  • Monitoring industry standards and developments, assessing client needs and making concrete decisions on proposed solutions.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Completion of a University degree in Civil Engineering;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Ontario (P.Eng.);
  • Minimum 6 to 10 years of progressive related experience within a professional services environment;
  • Demonstrate experience in project management and a strong understanding of all phases of project documentation and delivery;
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary environment and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, with clients and other relevant stakeholders;
  • Thorough knowledge and technical expertise in Municipal Engineering including policies, regulations, guidelines and operational procedures with a focus on roadways and active transportation facilities (although water and sewer knowledge is also desirable);
  • Demonstrated experience in preliminary and detail design work with proven solid design capabilities;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team;
  • Demonstrated ability for, and interest in, business development; and
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance.
