DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


We are currently seeking a Manager to join our Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Team, located at our Greater Toronto Area (GTA) office.  Reporting to the Assistant Vice President, Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering, the successful candidate will work in a hybrid environment with access to an office in the GTA.  The candidate will also work on numerous projects for respected municipal clients and development related work.  This position is responsible for working on a wide range of transportation planning, traffic engineering and multi-disciplinary assignments for both private and public sector clients including, transportation master plans (TMPs), environmental assessments (EA), active transportation (AT) projects, parking studies, transportation demand management (TDM), traffic operation studies, and microsimulation and design assessments.  As a member of our Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning Team, your duties will include, but are not limited to:


  • Coordinating and managing Traffic Engineering and Transportation Planning projects in Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA);
  • Acting as Project Manager and providing overall work management and technical performance on transportation engineering projects to ensure timelines and targets are being met;
  • Working with the Assistant Vice President (Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering) to develop and execute strategic growth and business initiatives within the GTHA.  As part of the growth strategy, and in consultation with the Assistant Vice President, you will research, liaise with clients, network within the industry, assist with staff retention, and identify essential recruitment hires;
  • Actively participates in the preparation of proposals and writing reports including EAs, TMPs, AT, etc.;
  • Maintain existing client relationships and assists the Assistant Vice President with business development activities;
  • Identify and participate in the acquisition of new clients and work (research and liaise with clients, network within the industry);
  • Providing mentorship, guidance, quality control, support, and oversight of junior and intermediate staff to complete various traffic engineering and transportation planning tasks;
  • Working with the Assistant Vice President to achieve financial goals and support financial reporting;
  • Liaising with clients, government, and regulatory bodies as well as contractors;
  • Preparing traffic engineering and transportation planning studies and other reports and presentations as needed; and
  • Other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • University Degree in Transportation Planning or Transportation Engineering/ Civil Engineering;
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) from the Professional Engineers of Ontario or Registered Professional Planner (RPP) from Ontario Professional Planning Institute;
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering services in the consulting or public sectors;
  • Experience in working with local municipalities and land developers in the GTHA area;
  • Experience in report and proposal writing;
  • Demonstrated interest in business development activities and preparation of proposals;
  • Project coordination and management experience;
  • Proven ability to supervise, direct and mentor junior staff;
  • Excellent communication and leadership abilities;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively independently or as part of a team; and
  • Experience using Synchro/Simtraffic and other transportation software and methods (e.g. HCS, CCG, VISSIM, EMME, Aimsun, Vistro).
