DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


As a member of the Contract Administration team and reporting to Contract Administration Manager within the designated region, you will have full project management responsibility for all deliverables for assigned contracts.  Key responsibilities will include business development, acquiring key talent, the ability to project manage several projects at the same time; the ability to manage large scale and complex projects; provide leadership and direction to the CA teams on the assigned projects as well as performing contract administration duties for various public projects. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:


Project Management and oversight:

  • Project Manage and full responsibility for all deliverables within assigned contract;
  • Manage overall work progress and technical performance on multiple projects to ensure timelines and targets are being met;
  • Ensures proper project planning is in place for all projects in assigned geographic area including proper staffing levels, scheduling of work, monitoring and reporting requirements;
  • Manage and address all challenges within the project in a timely and proactive manner;
  • Provide sound advice to Contract Administration Teams working in the geographic region;
  • Ensure quality assurance processes are in place for each project;
  • Provide timely analysis and recommendations to the client for all matters related to the project including such items as Extension of Time requests, Monthly Status Reports, Change Orders, Claims, Negotiations, Change Proposals, as well as design and construction matters encountered, and;
  • Liaising with clients, government and/or regulatory bodies as well as contractors.

 

Team Management:

  • Effective leadership of Contract Administration teams consisting of Contract Administrators and site inspection staff;
  • Provide mentorship and staff development for the career growth of all direct reports;
  • Oversee team management responsibilities including: conducting performance reviews, hiring, establishing and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), etc.;
  • Maintain and promote a culture of health and safety on all projects;
  • Keep Contract Administration Manager informed of any issues and challenges impacting on the project, employees or that could result in liability;
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of proposals, and RFPS, and;
  • Develop work plans, schedules, budgets for projects and monitors projects to ensure they are on track.


QUALIFICATIONS


  • University degree in Civil Engineering and preferably registered as a P. Eng. with the PEO or College diploma in Civil Engineering and OACETT designation as a rcca is required;
  • The ideal candidate will have Project Management experience for five (5) previous projects with the MTO or municipal construction with at least two (2) over $10,000,000;
  • Experience as a Contract Administrator on five (5) previous MTO or Municipal projects with at least two over $5,000,000 will be considered;
  • Ability to coordinate a multi-disciplinary team on projects of a similar size and scope;
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a wide variety of interests/authorities on projects including property owners, different levels of government, utility companies, etc;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively, both independently, or as part of a team;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and time management;
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a vehicle that has valid registration and insurance;
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario;
  • Be a resident, plan to relocate or have the determination to work long term in Northern Ontario.
