DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Providing design reviews and tender and contract preparation support for a variety of highway, bridge and municipal projects; 
  • Preparing special provisions, reviewing quantities and assembly of final tender packages for submission; 
  • Writing project specific specifications and technical reports; 
  • Evaluating tender results, and providing recommendations for project awards; 
  • Assisting in the preparation and review of project reports and documents; 
  • Providing Alberta Transportation PMA delivery to external users; 
  • Interpreting and implementing standards from provincial and federal regulatory bodies; and 
  • Maintaining positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Completion of a college diploma in Civil Engineering Technology or Engineering Design and Drafting Technology, or related program; 
  • 7 or more years relevant technical or procurement experience; 
  • Registered in Alberta as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T) through ASET;
  • Knowledge of applicable provincial and federal design codes and safety regulations; 
  • Working knowledge of engineering software programs and solutions; 
  • Experience with uploading and managing Alberta Purchasing Connection and other procurement websites will be considered an asset; 
  • Experience making independent decisions within area of expertise; 
  • Strong problem-solving capability, with a strong ability to effectively collaborate and communicate with project personnel and clients; 
  • Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills and ability to think creatively; 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; 
  • Possess a valid driver's license and have access to a vehicle with valid registration and insurance; and 
  • Provide a 3 year driver abstract with 2 or less minor incidents and no major incidents.
